Jazz Up the New Year

[minti_image img="20770"][vc_row top_padding="25"][minti_spacer height="20"]Ring in the New Year early with a night of contemporary jazz at the Rio Theater with the Las Cruces Jazz Collective - some of the Southwest’s premier musicians. Featuring Abby Nayra on vocals, Orlando Madrid on saxophone, Jesus Fuentes on piano, Adriel Hernandez on bass, and Derrick Lee on drums.

An eclectic ensemble comprising five of the finest performer/composers at work in the New Mexico area today, the LCJAZZ Collective’s mission is to perform fresh arrangements of works tailored to the inspirations of the members in the group honoring the jazz tradition and newly composed pieces by each Collective member.

Join us for an energetic and exciting performance in the historic Rio Grande Theatre as LCJAZZ reminds us that jazz is a living, ever-relevant art form.

The Las Cruces Chile Drop

A 400-pound chile will drop from the sky

The big state question is Red or Green--and on December 31st, every person attending the Las Cruces Chile Drop will also be asking themselves what color the chile will be. The 5th Annual Las Cruces Chile Drop will feature live entertainment by “Caliente”, food and drinks, dancing, free party favors, a Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery Beer Garden, and a 19-foot, 400-LED-light-illuminated chile that rings in the new year. The event is from 9pm to 12:30 and is free to the public at the Plaza de Las Cruces at 100 N. Main St.[minti_spacer height="20"]

Over 2,000 attendants gather each year to see the 400 pound, 19-ft long chile drop to celebrate the new year.
