December 15 - Las Noches de Las Luminarias

[minti_spacer height="15"][minti_image img="20712"][minti_button link="http://www.nmhistoricsites.org/" target="_blank" color="custom" custom_color="#319b00" size="full"]Learn more[/minti_button]Experience true holiday magic as you enjoy the sight of hundreds of glowing luminarias and the sounds of holiday music under the open skies around the ruins of historic Fort Selden. The tradition of luminarias has long been celebrated in New Mexico, dating back to when the Pueblo Indians lit small fires outside their homes to light their way to church on Christmas Eve. The luminarias, which are paper lanterns made from a candle set in sand within a bag, have replaced the earliest traditions.

Make this old Christmas tradition part of your family’s new tradition. Spend an enchanting evening creating your own decorations, sipping on cocoa, and cozying up to the campfire.

Please dress warmly. All activities are free. Sponsored by the Museum of New Mexico Foundation.

Fort Selden State Monument, north on I-25, exit 19, Radium Springs. 6-9pm. Free. 575-202-1638, 575-526-8911.[minti_spacer][vc_row bg_color="#dd3333" top_padding="25" bottom_padding="25"]
