First stop? Kick off the day with a family visit to the Las Cruces Railroad Museum where you’ll welcome the big guy in the red suit to town. He’ll be heading down from the North Pole on his magic sleigh and hopping on a BNSF locomotive for the final leg of his journey to the Museum. [minti_spacer height="25"][minti_image img="23984"][minti_spacer height="25"]Nothing says Christmas like model trains, festive displays, crafts and holiday treats. The kids will love the special children’s crafts, holiday music and old-fashioned holiday decorations at this FREE Holiday Open House.
Free shuttle service will be running between downtown and the Railroad Museum.
Head on back downtown after and catch the tree lighting!

Light Up the Plaza!
[minti_spacer height="25"]Las Cruces Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Festivities - December 7
Come on down and kick off the season with your family, friends and neighbors as we light up the Plaza. You’ll be rocking around the tree with live music by UnLyshed. Enjoy caroling, great food trucks and lots of free activities for the kids and family. And be sure to get your picture taken with Santa. Don't be late - the tree will be lit at 7pm sharp!
This FREE family friendly activity is hosted by Visit Las Cruces and City of Las Cruces.

An Historic Site and Candlelit Night!
[minti_spacer height="25"]Las Noches de Las Luminarias
Experience true holiday magic as you celebrate a very special Southwest tradition. Enjoy the glow of over 800 candles beneath the New Mexico sky around the ruins of Fort Selden. This amazing tradition dates back to when the Pueblo Indians lit small fires outside of their homes to light their way to church on Christmas Eve. The luminarias are paper lanterns made from candle and set in the sand within a bag.
This is truly an enchanting evening that will become part of your family traditions. Enjoy holiday music, a warm cup of cheer and tour the grounds. Make your own holiday decorations as you enjoy the sights and sounds of the season. Cozy up to the campfire and prepare to be amazed!

Tradition continues in the historic village of Old Mesilla with the lighting of the luminarias. The village will be aglow with thousands of luminarias and alive with Christmas caroling. Food and craft vendors will be on hand. Join in this wonder-filled evening.
