An Exhibit of Masterpieces on the Streets of Las Cruces
Up your cultural game as you stroll through downtown Las Cruces enjoying some of the most popular and important work of the Spanish masters. The Prado in Las Cruces kicks off this Friday, September 7 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6:30 pm at the Plaza stage in Las Cruces. The ceremony will also feature a performance by flamenco dancers. Help us kick off this exciting exhibit that will run through November 28.
The European Masters Come to You
The traveling exhibition from the Museo Nacional del Prado in Spain features the work of Diego Velazquez, Francisco de Goya, Titian Rubens and others - all part of one of the finest collections of European art originating from the Spanish Royal collection. The Prado Museum is one of the world’s most renowned fine art museums and boasts one of the finest collections of European art. And now the masterpieces of this rich collection are shared with us in Las Cruces. View such important and exciting works as Las Meninas by Diego Velazquez, Nobleman with his Hand on His Chest by El Greco and The Garden of Earthly Delights by El Bosco.

The Prado in Las Cruces is an impressive educational outdoor exhibit displaying 92 masterpieces from the Prado Museum’s collection, photographically reproduced at a 1:1 scale. The exhibit was listed as one of USA Today’s “Top 25 Must-See Exhibitions in 2017,” and we are bringing it all to you as part of the Downtown Art Ramble.
Stop, Admire, Reflect and Learn
The La Cruces Museums will be providing FREE weekly 30-45 minute tours on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am and on Saturday afternoons at 2:00 pm. The tours will meet at the exhibit on Plaza Place. The themes of the tours will change but will include Religion, Works of the Spanish Masters, Portraiture, Landscapes/ Still Life, The Human Form, Mythology, and Royalty.
