The official poster for the 2019 Las Cruces International Film Festival (LCIFF), created by artist Christina Ballew, will be revealed on Friday, January 25 from 6 to 8 pm at The Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science, 411 N. Main Street. The public is invited to attend the party with admission to the event costing $25. Admission includes refreshments, a signed copy of the poster, and the opportunity to purchase VIP tickets to the Film Festival at a reduced price.
Local artist Christina Ballew is the co-founder, Managing Partner, and Creative Director of NMCO Media where she both collaborates and directs a studio of videographers, animators, and designers. Her body of work spans from graphic design, murals, paintings, illustrations, production and video direction.
Having earned her degree in graphic design, Ballew has been working in media for over a decade. Ballew moved to Las Cruces in 2012 and has been curating exhibits, art shows, and promoting the arts economy ever since. In 2017 she curated thirteen group shows and had two solo art shows, including "Indigo Night", an exhibit of paintings featuring New Mexican landscape and opuntia. Last year, Ballew spearheaded the Color Me Cruces Mural with other artists, Anahy Nuñez and Aaron Valenzuela through the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership.
On the creation of local artwork to commemorate the festival Ross Marks, the Executive Director of the Film Festival, said “We are delighted to continue the tradition of LCIFF Commemorative Posters extraordinarily designed by local artists.”
