tourdebeerWhat could be better on a hot summer day than a cold beer? If that sounds good to you, you don’t want to miss the third annual Tour de Beer Festival August 16th and 17th at the Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road. Festivities start at high noon and end at 7 p.m. daily.

Organizers expect between 130 to 150 micro-beers at the event, representing micro-breweries from all over Europe and Australia. The United States is also well represented, with a heavy contingency of micro-beers from the Pacific Northwest and Colorado, as well as many from New Mexico’s best breweries.

Local brew masters will be conducting “beer school” for those who want to learn the basics of beer brewing, and brew kits will be available for purchase for those interested in home-brewing. Several speakers will be on hand to answer questions and introduce folks to the art and science of beer brewing.

The weekend festivities include live entertainment; Saturday will feature local country music duo Chris Baker and Matt Morgan and taking the stage on Sunday is the Ardk Band, a Jazz Funk Combo.  Festival goers can also indulge in a variety of cuisine or go shop at any of the more than 30 art and craft vendors that will be present.

Advance tickets are available online (lascrucestourdebeer.com) for $12, and will be $15 at the gate. The ticket price includes a souvenir glass and ten free tastings; additional tastings cost $1 each. For more information visit lascrucestourdebeer.com  or nmfarmandranchmuseum.org.
