David Benoit, legendary jazz musician is bringing his holiday show to the Rio Grande Theatre in Las Cruces on Friday, December 19th at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Benoit who has a passion for the music of original Peanuts composer Vince Guaraldi, will perfom his Jazz renditions of Peanuts tunes, such as classics "Linus and Lucy," and "Christmastime is Here," as well as others in his Christmas tribute show to Charlie Brown.

Over the years, he has composed several albums related to Charlie Brown and his Peanuts character friends. As a tribute to the late Peanuts creator Charles M. Schultz, Mr. Benoit produced a memorial album entitled, “Here’s to You, Charlie Brown: 50 Great Years” and “40 Years: A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

As a five-time Grammy-nominee, Mr. Benoit has had an extensive career as a contemporary pianist and composer, producing more than 25 albums during his 37 year career. His musical pieces “This Side Up,” “Freedom at Midnight” and the Grammy-nominated “Every Step of the Way” are considered influential genre classics. His accomplishments include several notable film scores, these include “The Stars Fell on Henrietta,” produced by Clint Eastwood and “The Christmas Tree,” produced by Sally Field, the latter was voted Best Score of 1996 by Film Score Magazine. He is also a longtime educator with the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, winning the organization’s “Excellence in Music Education” award in 2001.

David Benoit has performed for three U.S. Presidents, Bill Clinton, Ronald Regan, and George Bush as well as other prominent dignitaries. He is currently the conductor of the Asia America Symphony Orchestra and also leads such distinguished orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the symphonies of London, Nuremberg, San Francisco, Atlanta, San Antonio and San Jose.
