TSO 3 (600)

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) is returning to Las Cruces with their World Tour. The group takes the stage on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Pan American Center on the New Mexico State University campus. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m.

TSO will perform their rock opera, “The Christmas Attic,” which was released in 1988 and is the second album produced for “The Christmas Trilogy” CD/DVD set. The songs from this particular album have never been performed for a tour audience.

The Christmas Attic takes place on Christmas Eve, when a young girl’s curiosity leads her to a night of mischief and magic. She sneaks into the attic of her home and discovers a magical doorway to the past in the form of a mysterious trunk filled with ornaments, toys, old records and bundles of handwritten letters. A startling discovery in one of the letters leads to an unlikely adventure.

The group will perform hits from this album as well as other classic songs. Some of the fan favorites include, “Christmas Canon,” “Wizard in Winter,” “Requiem” and “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24.”

TSO has produced several Christmas music related albums over the years such as the "Christmas Eve and Other Stories," which was their debut album and the first piece of the trilogy. It included classic songs such as "O Holy Night" and "The First Noel." After releasing “The Christmas Attic,” in 1998, they completed the trilogy in 2004 with "The Lost Christmas Eve" which has a classic favorite, "Midnight Clear." In 2012 they released a new five-song EP called "Dreams of Fireflies (On A Christmas Night)." It debuted in Billboard Magazine's Top 200 Albums chart at #9, and also #1 on the rock charts.

They have also produced other unique musical masterpieces unrelated to Christmas. This includes their 5th album the "Night Castle," which was released in October of 2009 and debuted #5 on the Billboard Album Charts, it was certified gold in eight weeks and is currently a platinum album. Another eccentric production is their album "Beethoven's Last Night," which features tracks "Vienna" and "Mozart." The album tells a fictional story of Ludwig van Beethoven as he is visited by the devil, Mephistopheles, on his last night of life. The devil comes to collect Beethoven’s soul.
