This tour lets you catch a glimpse of the giant bombing targets (resembling bull’s eyes or alien crop circles) that were part of a training program essential in helping the U.S. win World War II. In 1942, 24 targets were built in the desert to train bombardier pilots on the top-secret Norden Bombsight navigational equipment, seven of which were built in the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks. Each target consists of four concentric rings, the outermost being 1000 feet in diameter.
