It may not be the first place that comes to mind where wine is concerned, but Las Cruces is part of the oldest wine-producing region in the country. Whether you're visiting or a local, our wine trail offers a number of options for you to visit but here are three gems you can't miss!

La Viña Winery

La Vina WineLa Viña was started in 1977 in an adobe building and 14 acres of vineyards until it moved to its current location in 1988. It’s known as the oldest operating winery in the state of New Mexico. Owned by Kenneth and Denise Stark, they make and produce all their wines from their vineyard where they believe, is where quality starts. After working long and hard, the Starks have grown their winery into the wonderful establishment it is today.

This winery sits further out, the visit is certainly worth it for a taste of their delicious wine and a winery open for tastings from 12-5 p.m. where you can sample three of their wines for $10. Some of their popular options are their Rojo Loco, La Dolce Vida and Rosé. Enjoy their indoor and outdoor seating while you relax with your glass of choice and listen to live music on the right day!

It should be noted that La Viña is recognized for hosting New Mexico's oldest wine festival which takes place in October. You can find out more about their events and festival on their website.

If you’re looking for a more immersive experience, book a tour by appointment at $25/person with the inclusion of wine tasting. For more info visit here.
